Law

Business Law is a basic business course that emphasizes the legal rights and responsibilities of citizens in the American society. Instructional content includes the legal system laws of contracts, owning and transferring property, and laws governing employer and employee relations.


Management

Students are provided a general overview of American business and the social and economic environments of business in this country. The course also provides the student with basic principles of organization and management with emphasis on business ownership.

Midterm Exam
Our Midterm Exam is a fairytale mock trial created by you and your team.  You will have the 3 class periods to prepare and rehearse your cases:  Monday 1/12-90 minutes, Wednesday 1/14-90 minutes, Friday 1/16-90 minutes.  Wednesday, Jan 21 you will spend our exam review class, rehearsing your case.  Any additional preparation must be done by your group after school.  I strongly suggest you meet with your team after school or over the holiday to prepare and rehearse your case.

Due to time constraints, each team will only have 20 minutes to present their case.  Time limits will be strictly enforced.

Using the Due Process H/W Handout, write a one page essay in good format using Standard English on what you have learned about due process. 
H/W 2-1 Frivolous Lawsuit Due 11/10 & 11/12
Find a frivolous lawsuit using Internet research.  Bring to class and be prepared to discuss with the class.
Test Ch4 Criminal Law Tues.11/10 & Thurs. 11/12
Infamous Criminal Projects
Are Due on Thursday, November 6.  Be prepared to present your "stuff" to the class.  Make sure you have a USB or flash drive for classes on 10/28, 10/30 and 11/3 to save your project and save your files to your fusion page as well as e-mail me your PPP just in case they fail.  carsontm@pwcs.edu I can't wait to hear and see your reports!!!  :)

Homework: Find a legal novel
Please find a school-appropriate legal novel; one with a court-room/legal plot.  A sample listing is provided for you under the homework file below.  You must bring your book to class on Monday/Tuesday 10/12 and 10/13 and all future classes.

Please read the first two chapters of your novel and be prepared to discuss and write a reflection on the characters and plot. 
Test on Ch1 on Wed/Thurs 9/30 & 10/1
Please use the class links on the right side of our web page for the Text Book Interactive Review to help you prepare for the test.  Binders should go home on Monday and Tuesday so you can review your class notes, vocab. lists and other classwork on this chapter.
